Geography
Geography teaches an understanding of places and environments. Children learn about their local area, and they compare their life in this area with that in other regions in the United Kingdom and wider world. They learn how to draw and interpret maps, and they develop the skills of research, investigation, analysis and problem-solving. Through their growing knowledge and understanding of human geography, children gain an appreciation of life in other cultures. Geography teaching also motivates children to find out about the physical world, and enables them to recognise the importance of sustainable development for the future of mankind.

Cycle 2 Spring
In the spring we have been learning about continents and oceans. We started our topic by sharing the story The Snail and the Whale and discussed the physical and human features of the story. We made a lovely spot tray and labelled the features.
The children have enjoyed using globes and atlases to explore the 7 continents of the world. We used a super video clip to help us remember them.
The children also used globes and atlases to find out about the 5 oceans of the world. Click on the video link below to watch the clip we used in the classroom.
