  • 32.5 hour week

    Wed 05 Jul 2023 M Tomlinson

32.5 HOUR WEEK FROM SEPTEMBER 2023

The DfE have recommended that all schools need to be open 32.5 hours a week from September 2023.  So the doors will open at 8.25 am for an 8.30 am start. Morning learning will be 8.30-8.40 and then registration at 8.40.  PLEASE DO NOT BE LATE! Number sense will start at 8.45 prompt. This is imperative to improve children's basic maths calculation skills; an area of weakness highlighted from this term's assessments followed by phonics at 9 am sharp.
    Thank you

  • Our RE enhancement day

    Tue 07 Feb 2023 Mrs R Platts

The children took part in an exciting day of activities to consolidate our learning in RE.
We did a scavenger hunt on the field to search for foods that are not considered to be Kosher and cannot be eaten during Passover.

In the afternoon we held a Passover meal in the hall and tried different foods on the Sedar plate.

  • Key Stage 1 get imaginative with 'A Day to Create' by Artsmark!

Wed 10 Aug 2022 Mrs Fitzsimons

Key Stage 1 children were eager to help when Grimm and Co got in touch needing help with 'The case of the missing memories!'. Everyone listened carefully to the history of Grimm and Co and the strange events which meant important memories had simply vanished! Children used their imagination, creative minds and clues to create lost worlds, magical doors and strange beings. We also had lots of fun in the process! Please enjoy looking through all of our children's amazing ideas!

  • Modeshift stars Travel award

    Sat 28 May 2022 M.Tomlinson

    Hi All

Just looking through our news and events, I noticed that we had only shared our Silver award but not our Gold award.
We are very proud of these awards as they are gained with the help of pupils, parents and our Brinsworth community. By continuing to work together we are not only making our area safer but helping to save our planet with lowering emissions. Thank you to all involved especially Miss Cleminson and Miss Marvin.
Keep up the good work and ‘make our world a better place!’

  • Our Jubilee Celebrations

    Sat 28 May 2022

Thank you so much to all our families that got involved with our celebrations for the queen's platinum jubilee.

It was so nice to see so many of our families having fun together on the field and the work on display was fantastic; this has all now been taken over to the community centre and will be on display all next week and throughout the jubilee weekend.

We have managed to raise £1126.70 at the gala this afternoon. This will be shared between the 2 schools and used to buy commemorative coins for the children to keep.

Please visit our Recent Events page for more photos.

  • FYI Netflix's Squid Game

Mon 11 Oct 2021 Miss Kay

    SAFEGUARDING NOTE. PLEASE READ
Netflix’s Squid Game is set to become the streaming service’s most successful show of all time, with huge numbers of viewers taking to social media to discuss each new episode. The South Korean thriller features some scenes of fairly brutal violence and is rated 15 by the BBFC. It follows a group of adults who compete to win innocent-looking playground games, but who are killed if they do not succeed at the tasks.

An unexpected success in terms of viewing figures, Squid Game’s popularity is beginning to spread across various online platforms. There has been a slew of content created – ranging from memes to apps – that convey the violence of the show, so it is important for parents, carers and educators to understand the basis of Squid Game and the potential risks to young people who might be exposed to it.

Depictions of these games have started to become popular as people film themselves recreating them – without the murderous outcome.
    The most popular are:

"Red Light, Green Light" in which players attempt to reach a spot in the allotted time in a stop-start fashion.

"Honeycomb Game" in which players must cut out one of four shapes in a thin disc of honeycomb using a needle without breaking the shape. This has become popular on TikTok.

Whilst it is unlikely that children and young people would have the means to entirely recreate the games featured in the show (many include specialised weapons, sets, and equipment), any recreation of these games during school hours will NOT be tolerated.
