🦩 Welcome to Flamingo Class! 🦩

We are well into the Summer term now and still having lots of fun in Flamingo Class!

Our new enquiry question for this term is…

‘Where is the perfect habitat?’

The book we are following for this half term is…

Meerkat Mail by Emily Gravett

Our trip to Yorkshire Wildlife Park!

Take a look at our Tinga Tinga tales inspired artwork…

We created sunset backgrounds using collage materials, then created silhouettes of animals to add to our piece. They look really effective!

We also followed instructions to sketch animals, then added patterns to them in the style of Tinga Tinga.

After half term we will be creating clay tiles and painting African animals on our tiles in the style of Tinga Tinga. We will also be creating wire animals and making African jewellery!

In RE we have been learning about Passover and the story of Moses. The children have loved learning all about the life of Moses and how he helped bring freedom to his people. We have explored the story in different ways….

First we acted out the story of Baby Moses using props, after this we created a collage of the river to help us retell the story on our own.

After we learnt the part of the story with Moses and the bushfire and explored the significance of God using fire to contact Moses. We discussed how God and the fire may be similar and the children came up with so many ideas….

- ‘The fire is warm, God makes us feel warm’

- ‘Fire is powerful like God’

- ‘Fire is bright’

- ‘God sent a fire to get Moses’ attention’

Take a look at our learning below…

In ICT we have been exploring algorithms using the online programme ‘Purple Mash’. First we used Lego and gave our friends algorithms to follow then we moved onto the iPads to set algorithms using a variety of paint projects…

Flamingo Class still love being outdoors on the Forest School where we can play with our friends, explore our natural world and learn lots of new skills.

Come and have a look at our adventures...
