Brinsworth Manor Infant School

Design and Technology

In KS1 for our Autumn DT learning we have been learning all about healthy eating and food hygiene. We know from having our bagels every morning in our classes that breakfast is the most important meal of the day! We love our chats and morning well-being bagels! However, in DT we have discovered that breakfast can get even more exciting and healthy! Over Autumn 2 we explored how to make a tasty and nutritious toast breakfast. We did this by tasting lots of different ingredients; thinking about how they tasted; and finally matching our favourite combinations so that we could finally design the perfect tasty toast breakfast!

See some of our photos below!

Don't worry! You can try these recipes too by following some of the instructions that we have written. Other people followed them too when our very kind parents helped to donate some of our suggested items so that people in need could use our recipes and enjoy them too! We loved our 'Tasty toast project!'.

KS1's Summer Garden Project

After learning that we can grow our own veg, children in KS1 designed, made and tasted 2 different types of soup.

We learnt how to use equipment safely to chop our veg and after making and tasting our soup, we evaluated it 😋🥔🥕

As part of our learning this half term, we are investigating what makes a garden aesthetically pleasing for the people in it.  We started with a walk around school to see what our environment was like before exploring a variety of garden types (some that were just for aesthetics and others that were functional) and discussed what we thought would make a great garden.
